Today is Halloween! Tomorrow is Day of the Dead! Do you know what Halloween or Day of the Dead is really about? Well if you don’t, I’m going to tell you right here, right now! People usually think Halloween is all about dressing up in costumes, eating candy, and going trick-or-treating. Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic and Pagan holiday ” Celtic New Year”or “Samhain”, which is a harvest festival. They gathered around bonfires and dressed up in costumes and masks to scare away all the bad spirits! Day of the Dead originated from indigenous peoples and tribes in Mexico. On the Day of the Dead, people liked to keep the skulls of humans for a trophy to represent the death and rebirth. It is a gathering in which you pray for all your loved ones who have died. People also call day of the Dead, “Dia de los Muertos”.( in spanish) Today we celebrate Halloween and Day of the Dead by dressing up in costumes, going trick-or-treating, praying for loved ones who have passed away, and visiting their graves to put sugar skulls there.
Isabell and Lovey

Isabell and Lovey are my birds. They are cockatiels. Isabell and Lovey are both girls.(or at least we think so!) Lovey is gray, yellow, white, and orange. Isabell is white, orange, and yellow. Lovey is a really cuddly and loving bird. Isabell is more like the just hang out on your shoulder kind of bird. They are both very sweet! Lovey definitely likes being pet more. Isabell just likes being pet on her neck. I got Isabell on my birthday one year, from my mom. Lovey came from the bird show like one year after we got Isabell, she’s actually my mom’s bird. Here’s something weird, my cat is scarred of Isabell and Lovey. Isabell and Lovey both have orange on their cheeks. They also have stripes under their tails, Isabell has yellow and Lovey has gray. Talk tomorrow! Bye!

Barack Obama
October 27, 2008 at 1:10 pm (Uncategorized)
Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 my family and our friends went downtown to “see” Barack Obama. We had to wait in this huge line, that seemed like 2 miles long! My uncle bought these tattoos that said Obama ‘08. When we got to the beginning of the line we found out it wasn’t really necessary.(and we waited in that line for like 2 and a half hours) After the line we found a spot where you could hear him, but you weren’t able to see him.:( This is one part of his speech that I liked “And if I’m President, we’ll give every child, everywhere the skills and the knowledge they need to compete with any worker, anywhere in the world. I will not allow countries to out-teach us today so they can out-compete us tomorrow. It is time to provide every American with a world-class education. That means investing in early childhood education. That means recruiting an army of new teachers, and paying them better, and giving them more support in exchange for higher standards and more accountability.” I liked this part of his speech because I think all children need to get the eduction that they need, and teachers need to get payed better because it’s their job to teach these kids and help them to get an eduction!!!! The other part of his speech was,”Now it falls to us. Together, we cannot fail. And I need you to make it happen. If you want the next four years looking like the last eight, then I am not your candidate. But if you want real change if you want an economy that rewards work, and that works for Main Street and Wall Street; if you want tax relief for the middle class and millions of new jobs; if you want health care you can afford and education that helps your kids compete; then I ask you to knock on some doors, make some calls, talk to your neighbors, and give me your vote. In Colorado, you can vote early right here, and right now. To find out how, just go to voteforchange.com. And if you stand with me in nine days, I promise you we will win Colorado, we will win this election, and then you and I together will change this country and change this world. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless America.” This was a good part of his speech because it’s true that if John McCain wins then the next four years ARE going to look like the last eight, and I don’t want our troops in Iraq to go out and fight, then end up dying!!!!!! When we were on the bus to the car there had to be like 100,000 people walking out of the park!
The Halloween Goblin
October 27, 2008 at 9:46 am (Uncategorized)
Get this, my friend’s, friend’s neighbors made up this game called the Halloween goblin, and this is a game where you ding dong ditch someone but you leave a bag of candy and a note that says you have to brake the curse by doing the same thing to 2 people the next night!! I’m going to do it tonight with my friend(Meryl)!:) Tonight we are going to do our neighbors with 3 kids(but 1 can’t eat candy) and we don’t know who else, but it has to be people with kids, or else it’s not fun. This is a fun little thing to do in October! It’s a good thing for us kids to play so we don’t get really bored. The point is, DON’T LET THEM SEE YOU!!!

I just finished reading Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer, a few days ago. I loved the book. It’s really good all the way through, but gets really exciting at the end. It’s about a teenage girl named Bella and a boy named Edward who has a dark secret. They fall in love and Bella doesn’t realize it until one of her close friends, Jacob, tells her the story about Edward’s family. At this point she’s scared as heck, but then she finds out that Edward really loves her also and Edward doesn’t hunt humans. I can’t tell you the whole story, so go out there and read it!
In the book there’s 498 pages plus the epilogue (which you have to read)! The book is definitely worth all the reading. I think that it’s a little higher reading level for me, but it’s really good. Right now I’m reading the sequel to Twilight, New Moon. Twilight the movie is coming out on Nov. 21, 2008 I’m really, really exited!!!! I got in to reading the books because my friend started reading them and she got it from her friends and now my mom and dad are reading it! If you like romantic stories and vampires then this is your book.

Halloween!
October 22, 2008 at 5:17 pm (Uncategorized)
I’m really really exited for Halloween!!! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because of the costumes, trick-or-treating, and the candy! I also like Halloween because of all the scares and screams. The bad thing about Halloween in Colorado is it always snows(I hate it)!!! This year I’m also disappointed because I’m home schooled and I don’t get to do Halloween parties and all the holiday parties with my friends. This year my friend’s mom is planing the Halloween party and she might take me!:)

The first day of scuba I really didn’t want to go but when I actually got in the water and started to do it I really liked it!!! Talk to you soon! Bye.:-)

My cat Zoe is a female silver Persian. She is 9 years old. Zoe’s fur is gray, black, white, and brownish. My dad bought Zoe for my mom. Zoe’s face looks like their face got smashed by a car. She pretty much lives in my room because her cat tower is there and she likes to get on my bed to get away from Lucy.(my bed is one of those kind with the desk on the bottom and bed on top) Zoe was born on Feb. 1, 1999. She’s pretty much like a sister to me because she screams and yells like one!
Well I’ll write to all of you tomorrow. Bye!!!

This is Lucy. Lucy is a female English bulldog. She’s about to turn 2 years old on Saturday!! Lucy’s fur is white with brown spots and she has beautiful brown eyes. She knows tricks like sit, down, up, come, give me five, other five, and double five. When Lucy was 6 months old she had a thing on her neck that was like a blister that kept on getting bigger every day, but we already got that fixed. Lucy can’t have puppies but that was a hard decision for us make!!:-) Now you know about my dog Lucy. Next time I’ll tell you about Zoe, my cat!!
