Napoleon Dynamite

This week I’ll be doing a movie review on Napoleon Dynamite.  This funny movie is about a geeky guy in high school, Napoleon Dynamite.  He lives with his grandma and his 32yr. old brother, Kip.  Kip spends his time on the Internet, talking with his babes.:)  His grandma went on a trip to the sand dunes, and she got hurt.  That’s when uncle Rico shows up to “take care” of them.  Napoleon doesn’t really think Rico needs to be there and that they can take care of themselves.  Kip needed money, so he helps Rico sell Tupperware.  At school Napoleon makes friends with the new kid, Pedro, who has a “sweet” bike.  He shows him the “cool” things to do around school.  Pedro runs for class president with Napoleon’s help, and Napoleon finally gets his chance to show of his awesome moves!:D

I like this movie because no matter how many times I watch it, I will always start cracking up.  Napoleon Dynamite is a good movie for all ages that need a laugh, and who appreciate dorks.

Confusion Sucks!!!

I wanted to go to my best friend’s party…
She tells me I have to ask her mom’s boyfriend.
Confusion… but why her mom’s boyfriend?
I don’t know how to feel.

I go to my friend’s house…
Yet, her parents act like I annoy them all the time.
She’s a good friend and I want to stay friends.
I don’t know how to feel.

Weird…it’s only my friends from school.
What do I feel?
Worried, angry, or surprised?
No, no, no!!
I don’t know how to feel.

I call the next day.. and her mom’s boyfriend answers.
I asked to speak to her.. he stutters.
He says sure.
I wish her a happy birthday, and ask how the party was.
She said it was really fun and that she couldn’t talk.
I don’t know how to feel.

My conscience tells me that maybe all this drama is a sign to move on.
Part of me want to, but I love those friends, and I hope they still love me too.
Yet again, I don’t know how to feel. :(

I guess I just need to face those people, and straight up tell them how I feel!  My feelings could be right, but they could just be my way of always seeing those people.  If they do end up being true I hope it doesn’t effect my friendship with that friend.

My Weeked 2-21 to 2-23

breckenridgewinter1I know it’s Wednesday, but I’m going to tell you about last weekend.  Later Saturday afternoon, after doing the Marine Biologist for a Day, I went over to my friend Meryl’s house.  Somehow we ended up at my house and we started to play Animal Crossing on my Wii.  We played video games ’till almost 11pm and then we finally went to bed.  We really didn’t go to bed, we stayed up and laughed our heads off for no reason.  In the morning my Mom made eggs and cinnamon rolls, they were delicious!  Then again we played Animal Crossing for about an hour, and finally got out of the house for a little while.  We went to Meryl’s house and hung out with her sister, Meredith.  That’s when Meredith asked if I wanted to go snowboarding with just her and her mom.  My parents said yes, and I think both me and Meredith were excited!

In the morning Meredith’s brother, Lucas, decided that he wanted to come with us.  When we got to the mountain it was snowing like crazy!  The first few runs really sucked.  The powder made me go a lot slower than usual. :(   That was definitely not my best, but not my worst either.  Meredith, her mom, and I went to the bottom and had lunch, we did another run and it was just too cold!  I couldn’t see what I was headed for.  We decided that we just couldn’t snowboard in that kind of weather so we walked around town, and after that went home.  Although it was snowing, I had a good time and got seven runs in.

Marine Biologist

On Saturday I did a program called Marine Biologist for a Day at the Downtown Aquarium. It was actually funner than I thought it was going to be.  First, we chopped up a whole bunch of squid, shrimp, small fish, krill, and some green vitamins for fish food.  I guess you could consider them cannibals for eating the small fish.  I learned they needed vitamins, just like we do.  Next we gave the food to the fish from above the tanks, where the visitors can’t see.  The fish that we fed ranged from a few inches to a few feet.  Just us kids got to wander around the aquarium for half an hour.  After lunch we dissected a mackerel, YUMMY!  Surprisingly it was kind of fun, I learned a lot about the parts of a fish, that I didn’t know before.

Our instructor said that he had a surprise for us.  We got to touch a baby octopus!  It really didn’t look like a baby though.  The tentacles felt really cool, it was like a lot of little suction cups sticking to my fingers at once.  Creepy, but at the same time awesome! :)   The coolest thing of the whole experience was that was we got to feed three sea turtles.  We fed them fish, vitamins, lettuce, and green beans, we were super close.  Just then I learned that sea turtles eat lettuce.  I think it was a really, really cool experience.  In the end I made a new friend and got her phone number.  Over all I think it was worth the $50 that my parents payed.

Tomorrow Is…Marine Biologist for a Day!

turtle1Tomorrow I’ll hopefully be doing something really cool at the Downtown Denver Aquarium.  I’m going to a program called Marine Biologist for a Day.  I really don’t know what we are going to be doing, but I know that we get to go behind the scenes to learn, prepare food, and feed the animals.  I hope we get to feed sharks, sea turtles, and sting rays!  We are doing lots more I know that for a fact.  The thing that sucks is that we don’t get to go in the water.:(  Some questions I’ll ask are, “What is it like to be a marine biologist?”, “What schools do I have to go to, to get where you are?”, and “What’s your favorite part about being a marine biologist?”.  When my Mom called to sign me up, the guy said that there were already five kids signed up for it.  I just hope that some of them are girls!!  I really, really hope that the whole experience is as fun as it sounds!:)

Movie Review…..Blue Crush

It’s Thursday and this week I’m doing a review on Blue Crush.

Blue Crush is not a new movie, it came out in 2002. It’s about a girl, Ann Marie, that raises her little sister and is training  for a surf contest at Pipe Line, on the North Shore of Oahu.  While she is training she falls in love with a professional quarterback, Matt.  Her and her friends teach Matt and some of his BIG football playin friends how to surf.  She forgets all about the contest for awhile and spends too much time with him.  Her friends were worried that she wasn’t going to do good in the contest.

Blue Crush is one of my favorite movies because it’s in Hawaii.  It’s about surfing, which I want to learn how to do, and because I’ve been to the beaches where it’s filmed.  I love this movie and I recommend it for people from teens to adults, who love the ocean.  The scenery is beautiful!blue_crush

10 Pens

10 Pens! :)

10 Pens! :)

Barack Obama came to Denver yesterday.  He came to sign the Stimulus bill at the Nature and Science Museum.  I only know little about it, so I thought it was a little boring.  I know that it’s very important for our future and that 787 billon dollars is a lot of money!  My Mom and I watched it on TV for almost an hour.  When the president was signing he said, “I have to use ten pens!”  He used ten pens so that he can give them to suporters of the bill.  Obama definitely seemed very happy and smiley! :)   After he signed the bill, he said something like, ‘there it’s done’ or ‘DONE’.  He sounded hungry, I know I would have been too if I just got off a plane and finished giving a speech.  Stay tooned for my TV or movie review tomorrow!!(It’s lots more EXCITING!)

2-14 to 2-16

apexMy weekend was really fun, I got to spend lots of time with my friends!  It started off on Saturday.  I was really bored, and I had been wanting to go swimming.  I decided to call up some of my friends and see what they were doing.  I was trying to think of someone that I haven’t hung out with in awhile.  Then it hit me, my friend Sierra.  I hadn’t hung out with her since Thanksgiving.  We went to the Apex Center and were there for about 3 1/2hrs.  We both had a really fun time, but we only got to go down the slide once!  I ended up spending the night at her house and in the morning we walked her dog down to the dog park.

Sunday afternoon I noticed that my friend Kylie called and left a message, to see if I wanted to hang out that day.  It was a little later in the afternoon, so I called back to see if she wanted to spend the night at my house.  Her mom brought her over after she ate dinner, and that night we traded Littlest Pet Shops. We made some pretty good trades.  In the morning we started to play tag, and my Mom suggested that we walk to the park.  Kylie and I thought it wouldn’t be as fun with two people, so we invited some school friends, Morgan and Spencer.  It seemed like I hadn’t talked to them in YEARS.  When we all got to the park we started to play groundies ( kind of like tag), it was cool to be with old friends!  When we got tried of that we started to prank call people, I think it was pretty funny how some of the people reacted, and before we knew it we had to leave.  I know I had a good time and I hope they did too!:D

Friday the 13th

happy-friday-the-13th1

Today is Friday the 13th.  Some people believe that today is one of the least lucky days of the year.  On this day people are very cautious, they try not to step on cracks, walk under ladders, or come across a black cat.  I don’t think these people really know how it became one of the unluckiest days.  Well, I did some research on what it was really about.  According to the church, Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit on a Friday.  Some Christians say that Friday was the day of Christs’ death.  In the Christian belief, the number 13 was bad luck, because the 13th guest at the Last Supper, Judas, was a traitor.  The Scandinavians also believed that the number 13 was bad luck because the 12 demigods, were joined by the cruel and evil one, Loki, who was the 13th.  You put the two together and you get, Friday the 13th.  I think lots of people were very superstitious hundreds of years ago, and the idea of Friday the 13th just stuck around.

I think I’m having a unlucky day today, because I get to do school work(how fun).  Some of my friends don’t even have school and the ones that do, get to have a Valentines party!:(

Mia’s Thursday TV and Movie Reviews

slat1Today I’ve decided that every Thursday I’m going to do a movie or TV show review.  I’m doing this because my family and I think that I’ve seen a lot of movies and a variety of TV shows.  I’m also including a ranking system from 1 to 10 on how good I think the movie or TV show was.  Instead of stars, I’m using smileys!:)  Feel free to write your ranking as a comment.  This week I’ll be reviewing The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager is about a 15 year old girl named Amy, that gets pregnant with a 15 year old boy,Ricky, that she doesn’t even like.  She likes another guy, Ben.  Ricky wants to help with the baby, but he’s a jerk, and Ben wants to marry her!  It’s basically a teenage drama to teach younger teenage girls that this really does happen in the real world.  This show is a good chick flick for girls in their early teens.  I enjoy the TV show because it’s entertaining, funny in some parts, and it’s a show that both my friends and I like.  If you are interested in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, it’s on ABC family, on Mondays, at 6pm.
